WBCH-Byrd Market Urban Gardening Classes

Yearning for Spring? Dreaming about huge bouquets, luscious vegetables and exuberant gardens? Stop dreaming and start planning – join the folks at the William Byrd Community House Library, who are offering a great lineup of gardening classes. Once again local Urban Gardening Guru, John Wise, has developed a series of garden classes to help you learn more about gardening and garden design. This year they are offering classes at night and in the morning, so everyone has a chance to participate.
Save your Wednesday’s and come learn to garden.

URBAN GARDENING CLASSES FOR 2008:

Landscape Planning for Residential Property – 3 week class ($15.00 fee*)
Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 Feb. 13, 20, 27
Learn easy design applications for your own renovation projects. An overview of selected plants will be discussed and practical maintenance tips will be offered.

Understanding Woody Plants for Residential Property – 4 week class ($20.00*)
Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 5, 12, 19, 26
An overview of plants adaptable for Richmond Landscapes including trees, shrubs, groundcovers and vines will be discussed offering tips on design adaptability and maintenance.

Urban Gardening Gurus classes – 7 week class ($35.00*)
Wednesday Morning classes 9-11 a.m. March 12, 19, 26, April 2, 9, 16
Take advantage of this opportunity to learn everything from A to Z about plants and gardening. Taught by Richmond’s urban gardening gurus. This course is loosely based on the Master Gardening Classes. In fact our UGG instructors teach in the Master Gardening Programs and J S R Horticulture program.
March 12th – Plant parts that humans eat: petioles, stems, tubers, compound inflorescences. Learn how plants are put together and which parts humans find delicious.-Taylor
