Thanks, Scott! That was an awesome nostalgia break for the middle of my day. I spent many evenings at Benny’s back in the day.
Spent many a night and many a circle thrash in there, including the all-night Halloween parties…think I saw the once famed “Psycho Drama” there. Skillet used to don a crazy rooster tea cozy and bruise he and everyone else.
If I could go back to any time in my life it would be when I was a bouncer at Benny’s. No one believes that I was a bouncer at Dead Kennedy’s shows, and Black Flag, and GBH…I remember one night the bartender didn’t show up or something and the Circle Jerks were behind the bar pouring beer. lol It was like the scene in the movie ‘Gremlins’.. people laying on the bar getting beer poured into their mouths..
good times.
I hear the Benny’s reunion is happening soon.
September 12 at The Playing Field on W Broad st. White Cross, Beex, Orthotonics and many more bands. Starts at 7 and all proceeds go to Hospice Care.
