Graffiti On Everyone’s Property

I took a walk on Belle Island this morning to try to get away from other problems and look what I find on its river rocks:

Fortunately, I have learned to separate the Grateful Dead’s music from some of its more idiotic fans, but honestly, do you really think Jerry Garcia would appreciate this lame tribute in a struggling, urban public park and natural preserve?

These people should be caught, prosecuted, and made to clean up the James RIver Park EVERY weekend for a couple of years. If they are college kids, they should be kicked out of college immediately and if they are high schools students, they should not be allowed the chance to attend college. If they are adults they should be sentenced for a couple of decades of cleaning the park.

  1. i guess cave paintings were messed to. its funny something like this can bother you so much, the world is falling apart, people are starving, you drive past poor people everyday and i bet you judge before you even try to relate, the government is slowly implementing more control and your’re worried about a little art. SCOTT go collect your tears so that maybe one day you can start your own river with your own precious rocks, till then i’ll be contactin the louvre to rid itself of all the cave paintings that came befroe graffiti did

  2. The attitudes expressed against this completely understandable rant are why Oregon Hill is a freaking filth-hole. No respect for nature? Defense of graffiti? Idiocracy is happening as we speak. Jesus.

  3. just to let you know… they have put a sign up that says “grateful dead rock”. awesome.

  4. Scott you are a fuckin tool bag. The graffitti is there to comemorate the dead’s performance on Belle
Isle back in the 80’s. Suck a dick Scott. It’s people like you that piss me off to no end.

  6. Dead Rock is part of Richmond. DEAL WITH IT. And you are a severely unserious person if you want someone sentenced to 20 years of cleaning up parks every weekend because of some nice artwork that most of us have enjoyed for years.

  7. Its a national landmark Scotty so suck it the fuck up if you dont understand that then try to paint over it you can be charged and sent to prison for a felony for destruction of federal property the same as trying to paint on the Washington Memorial. The Richmond park manager Ralph White fought in court to make it a national landmark so its futile to sit there and call it graffiti when its a landmark. and really you want to kick kids out of college over it and not allow kids to go at all. those same kids would be robbing you on the street cause someone thought it be a good idea to kick them out of college
