The Invisible Philanthropist in Richmond Magazine

There’s been other posts about Grace Arents, but its still great to see Harry Kollatz Jr.’s recent column in Richmond Magazine.

I like the title: “The Invisible Philanthropist: Grace Arents, a shy heiress, transformed her city”.

Where are the Grace Arents of today? Richmond’s school buildings could use some philanthropic care- including Open High, aka Grace Arents School.

I was shocked to find out that some local politicos, some of them graduates of Open, did not know who Grace Arents was.

We should have a historical marker in Oregon Hill to honor Grace Arents who built so many things for the neighborhood.

I read that St Andrews had one approved for Idlewood and Cherry. How about a monument at the roundabout on Idlewood if it ever comes to fruition. She sure shined her love upon many!
