actually they are not so bad, but ritualistic consumption of alcohol can make even the best of us act rowdy in public from time to time.

Just because the BFD organizers are "community minded" and many of the BFD attendees are decent enough people, this does not change the fact that a huge number of the kids are irresponsible jerks who, by definition, don't care about anything but "raging" and being as crazy as possible. People tagging my personal property, dumping beer bottles on my yard, etc. happens pretty consistently because of these kids. I go to a lot of house shows and have hosted plenty myself, so I know what I"m talking about. The attitude of many young people in this scene (close to half?) is what has driven me away.

I agree. My neighbors are making them though and the question remains- Is this graffiti BFD related? At what point do a few bad apples spoil the whole barrel?

I know Shelley Briggs and others, I know they are community-minded. But at some point, there is a perception being made that BFD participants need to counter. Don't shoot the messenger.

If you're going to make generalizations about BFD participants you are looking to offend A LOT of people, including some upstanding Oregon Hill residents that do quite a bit of great work for the community and would never think of littering or graffiting in their lives. Give me a break with this presumptuous posturing.

Well, on one hand, I am reluctant to make generalizations like that. The Fine Foods parking lot looked pretty clean after the show on Saturday. And I know that a least some of the BFD organizers do a lot of nonprofit, charity work.

On the hand, I am disturbed by the graffiti, (see related post). What do people think, and more importantly, what are people willing to do about it? Do BFD attendees think graffiti is acceptable, or at least not something to be concerned about?
