Occupy Monroe Park group ‘Busted’

I don’t have all the details, but from unofficial sources, it sounds like the Occupy Monroe Park demonstration was ‘busted’ by police last night, with at least 8 people being arrested and the camp dissolved.

2nd District Councilperson Samuels sent an email to Fan District Association members supporting a decision for action against the demonstration, stating that it was in violation of several laws.

  1. Awww, Back to the dorms they go!

I wonder how their parents feel about spending tens of thousands of dollars for them to camp out! Hopefully they’ll still pass their 19th century sculpture classes and keep from having to move back to Falls Church

  2. Good riddance! Drove by there last weekend and the part of the park they were in just looked trashy!

  3. This should have happened on day one. Break the law and go to jail. It would be great if these people could focus their efforts on finding jobs and not stressing our tax payer dollar resources which helps pay for park maintenance. They’re only hurting themselves. Read the report on RTD and I’m very happy with RPD!

The writings on your web site are childish and you’re in no place to “demand” anything at all. You may not negotiate with fascists but clearly, the city doesn’t negotiate with anarchists! How ya like them apples?!?!?

  5. It is reasonable for the occupiers to ask that portions of Monroe Park not being worked on be open to the public. This all reads as if it were an effort to drive corporately disapproved uses out of the park.

  6. It is reasonable for the occupiers to ask that parts f the park not being worked on be left open to the public.

  7. I checked out Mo’s link above. It appears she (or whoever is in charge of that site) disabled the ability of others to leave comments. Why?????

  8. I would like to see Mo and her friends create a corporation called “Fair-Mart”. With this company, they can put Wal-Mart out of business, pay tuition and health care for all their employees, and give stuff away to homeless people for free!!

  9. Sorry for the double comment above — that won’t happen once I get a smartphone more real than the Palm Pre…
