St. Andrew’s School Fostering Healthy Hearts

From St. Andrew’s School website:

Help fill our hearts at St. Andrew’s School!

We have set a goal to raise $2,012 in February to support healthy initiatives at our school and need your help to make this happen.
We have raised $375 toward our goal of $2012!

It is our commitment to foster healthy hearts, bodies and minds since academic potential is not optimal if our students come to school hungry and are not healthy. Some of the staggering statistics in our area are:

-35% of children in the Richmond Metro Area live in poverty.
-9% of Virginia’s households are “food insecure,” which means they lack access to enough food to fully meet basic needs.
-34% of children are not meeting daily recommended physical activity targets.
-Only 4% of young people in Richmond meet the USDA recommendation of nine servings of fruits and vegetables per day

We have set a goal to raise $2,012 in the next 29 days and need your help to make this happen. Your support will promote wellness and healthy living by:

-providing our students a balanced, nutritious meal at no cost to our families.
-integrating healthy lifestyle elements into our curriculum.
-ensuring our families can provide food in the home by maintaining a food pantry.
-organizing family workshops on nutritious cooking and food budgeting.
-participating in the backpack program which sends food home with students each weekend.
-teaching the importance of fitness through physical education classes.

St. Andrew’s School fosters healthy hearts by educating the whole child through instilling healthy choices.
