OHNA Against The Shockoe Stadium Proposal

The Oregon Hill Neighborhood Association (OHNA), at its February meeting, voted to oppose the Shockoe stadium proposal, due to the questionable finances and the possible destruction of important Richmond history.

OHNA meets again tomorrow evening at 7 pm at the William Byrd Community House. At 8 pm the meeting will focus on planning for the Idlewood roundabout project.

  1. Wait, what??? OHNA does not support this development. Shocking!! Oh yeah, this is the same group of 5 people that are against anything VCU does, the 2nd Street Connector, Tredegar Green and generally anything else that makes this city a better place to live.

Keep in mind, the two neighborhoods that would be most impacted by this plan, endorse this project.

  2. Josh, you may be an Oregon Hill homeowner, but you are no longer a resident. When it comes to you, Venture Richmond, and this flawed Shockoe ballpark proposal, ever heard the term ‘rent-seeking’?

There were certainly more than 5 people voting to oppose the flawed Shockoe stadium proposal (and support our Councilperson’s principled stand), but you would not know that since you were not at the meeting. You would rather insult your former neighbors from afar.

The fact is that the flawed Shockoe stadium proposal does not have the widespread public support that it needs to be a success.
