Today was Election Day. Voting was very light for a number of reasons – it rained, the polling station moved without much fanfare from William Byrd Community House to the Landmark Theater, and the ballot was very short. Delegate McLellan was unopposed for her seat, and Donald McEachin won the State Senate seat.

Internationally acclaimed baritone James C. Martin will give a free concert at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church on Sunday November 18th, at 6:00 pm. Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Martin has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and recently he was the featured soloist at the consecration of Bishop Shannon Johnston at the National Cathedral. Bread & Puppet Theater will present The Divine Reality Comedy Circus in Monroe Park at 3pm on Sunday, October 28th! THE DIVINE REALITY COMEDY CIRCUS features famous rats leaving a sinking ship, the triumph of the small farmer, smart advice on where to get your water, a celebratory ballet by a flock of roosters, the Rotten Idea Theater Company’s distillation of political issues and much more, all accompanied by the Bread & Puppet Circus Band.

The University of Richmond is hosting a free e-waste recycling event on Oct 11-13.
The National Folk Festival will be happening close by on October 12-14.
The 2007 McDonald’s Duathlon Long Course World Championships Event happens on Sunday, October 21st. There will be some local road closings because of this.
The Byrd House Market is open from 3:30-7PM. Musical entertainment is an open acoustic jam session, so bring what you play. There will also be an Oregon Hill Neighborhood Association meeting @ 7PM at the William Byrd Community House, and a 5th District meeting with Councilman Marty Jewell @ 6PM at the Sun Trust Riverview Bldg. 1001 Semmes Avenue, James River Conference Room, 1st floor.
