Trash/Recycling Pickup Thursday/Project Clean Move Saturday

Normally, this Wednesday is a red Wednesday, which means trash and recycling pickup. But because of the Memorial Day holiday, pickup has been pushed back a day to Thursday. Please make sure you pick up containers after pickup. They do not belong on the sidewalk after Thursday night.

Also, get ready for VCU’s Project Clean Move. In addition to trash cleanups, volunteers will load reusable items to give to nonprofits this Saturday, May 31, from 8 a.m – 12 p.m. Separate your trash and reusable items and leave them out before 8 a.m. The Randolph/Oregon Hill truck will likely handle Randolph from 8-10 and Oregon Hill from 10-12.

Volunteers Needed For the 2014 USA Cycling Collegiate National Championships

I have mentioned this before, and now there is this plea:

In just a few weeks from now, we will be hosting the 2014 USA Cycling Collegiate National Championships in downtown Richmond. The event will feature 400 student athletes from more than 100 colleges and universities from across the country. It is also serving as the official test event for the 2015 UCI Road World Championships.

We are seeking committed individuals to serve as course marshals on Friday, May 2nd, Saturday, May 3rd and Sunday, May 4th, 2014. The course marshal role is considered to be the “best seat in the house” as they assist race organizers with crowd control and traffic safety as the racers speed by.

Each volunteer will receive a t-shirt to commemorate the event, food and beverage during their shift and a 15% discount code to use on Richmond 2015 merchandise. In addition, if you volunteer for 2014, Richmond 2015 will provide you with your first choice of volunteer role for the 2015 World Championships when the best men and women cyclists, from all over the world, race through the streets of the Richmond region.

See the attached flier for more information, or to register visit our volunteer site at www.richmond2015.com/volunteer. If you have questions, send them to volunteer@richmond2015.com or call 804-788-5820. Please consider volunteering and please forward to friends, family and co-workers that may be interested.

Getting Ready For April 12 Clean Up

PTTG FLYER FINAL

Councilperson Parker Agelasto has purposely scheduled his 5th District Clean Up the same day (Saturday, April 12) as VCU’s Paint The Town Green event.

I have heard that St. Andrew’s Church will be joining in- from Deacon Barbara Ambrose-

St. Andrew’s will have a clean up day at the church on Saturday April 12. Perfect timing for us to prepare for all the festivities of Holy week! We will hold a prayer service at 8:15 or 8:30 and would love to invite the other volunteers to join us. We are also talking about having some refreshments available for volunteers if they want to take a break. If you want to forward this e-mail to whoever is heading up the neighborhood effort, feel free to do so.
