The Richmond Folk Festival started this evening with nice weather. It goes on till Sunday evening. Oregon Hill residents enjoy walking to the festival grounds.

Blogger extraordinaire C. Wayne Taylor has post up now on City Hall Review that evidently quotes a city official.
“I don’t have any documentation on emergency access conditions in the area of the proposed Second Street Connector. I checked with Lory Markham and she doesn’t either.”

Halloween Parade Flyer Unveiled
NoBS Brass Band will be leading the parade this year in true All the Saints’ Fashion! parade is on Halloween, Monday, starts at Monroe Park at 7pm! I don’t want to spoil all the surprises, but if you want to get involved in preparations, contact the All The Saints Theater Company. There is a workshop this coming Sunday.
Recycling Notes
Regular CVWMA curbside pickup and regular City trash pickup tomorrow morning.
Electronic Recycling Day for City Residents happens Saturday, October 15.
WHO: Richmond Clean City Commission, Richmond Department of Public Works, and Central Virginia Waste Management Authority.
WHAT: Drop off for all household electronic items, such as computers, monitors, radios, fax machines, microwaves, camcorders, etc. Fluorescent light bulbs and large appliances cannot be accepted.
WHEN: Saturday, October 15, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE: 3101 N. Boulevard (corner of Boulevard and Robin Hood Road)
BACKGROUND: The City of Richmond’s E-Cycle Day offers City residents an efficient and green option to recycle unwanted electronic products. There is a $7 recycling fee for televisions. Lastly, and most pleasantly, I am happy to announce that VCU Goes Green will be sponsoring the Green Team volunteer recycling at the Richmond Folk Festival.

Laurel Street closed down, police at corners of Idlewood and Cherry, Spring and Laurel, and Pine and Riverside.
I could be wrong, but I do not recall seeing recent notice of this foot race, let alone of the closing of streets.
