Pescados is Open

This past week Pescados opened its doors for business at the corner of S. Pine Street and China Street, which previously hosted the Hollywood Grill and before that, the Chuck Wagon. With the help of contractor Bob WIndsor, the venue has been renovated and freshened with bright colors and murals.

This is in addition to their Midlothian Turnpike restaurant.
Known for their ‘Latin/Caribbean Inspired Seafood”, Pescado’s will certainly add another flavor to Pine Street, already famous for Mamma Zu’s.

Because of its relatively small size, you may want to call ahead if you plan to eat there to check on table availability- 804.644.FISH

Reminder: Randolph Pool Opens Tomorrow

This Richmond City website (click here) states that Richmond’s outdoor pools are open from mid-June to Labor day.

Randolph pool and all others will open beginning June 23rd. The pools are free and open daily all summer.

Open/free swim & adult/family swim hours:

Monday – Friday, 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Hands Across the Sand events is being staged across Virginia and across our nation as well as in 20 other countries. Be a part of this simple that compelling event to send a message to our leaders: “Say NO to offshore drilling, Say YES to Clean, Renewable Energy”. 11 AM we gather and at 12 noon we’ll all join hands at different locations to demonstrate our commitment to this simple message. JRA Says ‘Bike for the James’

From the James River Association announcement:

Virginia Outside is holding a kids mountain bike benefit day at Belle Isle on June 26th from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Come out and enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the James River while learning the basics of bike safety and riding technique. Experienced and trained staff will be on hand to teach riding basics, trail safety, and the importance of an outdoor experience. The cost is $20. All proceeds will be donated to the James River Association. Ages 6-12. Kids will be grouped based on skill level. All participants must provide their own bike and helmet.

The first one this year will be on June 15th. Music Players are invited to a 3rd Tuesday Acoustic Jam at the Byrd House Market, 5:00 – 7 p.m. Come early and bring your totebags to shop at the Byrd House Market. Come anytime to play, even (especially!) after work. The genre is determined by the players, so don’t be shy about choosing a song to sing, a rock to roll or a groove to play. It’s all wide open! Folk, Ol’ time, Bluegrass, Blues, Gospel, Jazz, Rock, Celtic, Children’s Songs, anything you can play on an acoustic instrument!
