Lee Bridge Death InvestigationAt approximately 12:39 p.m., the Richmond Police Department was called to the Lee Bridge for a report of a male jumping from the span.
Officers arrived and found a male below the bridge on Belle Isle who was suffering from injuries from the apparent fall.
The victim, a white male in his early 20’s, was taken to VCU Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released by detectives.
Officers that responded to the scene conducted interviews with witnesses and have classified this death investigation as a suicide, but the investigation remains open.
No, this does not have anything to do with the VCU Sex Club.
When ‘Teen Sex’ appeared, most neighbors figured it was idiocy that usually ends with arrests. However there are unconfirmed reports today that this may actually be part of ‘urban street advertising’ strategy by a controversial white power group. ‘Aryan Babies Now’ is a shadowy Canadian group that promotes the idea of Caucasians having sex early and often.
Jennifer Hancock, President of the Oregon Hill Neighborhood Association, had this to say: “Neighbors had asked the City to please remove what they had thought was graffiti, and they thought they saw some work being done, but then the cleanup crew left. So maybe it is because it is supposedly an ad that they had to stop. Regardless, “this ad” (ed. note: making the bunny ear, air quotes hand sign) is totally unacceptable. This is not what this neighborhood is about and it is not what we are about. We find it appalling and we want it removed immediately.”
Looking at the City’s SeeClickFix site and messages from neighbors, most had indeed thought it was graffiti and had hoped that the City would have removed it more quickly due to the proximity to the St. Andrew’s School. They thought for sure that it would have been cleaned up by now, if not for them, then for the suburban visitors for the Monument Avenue 10K that took place yesterday.
Nothing has been heard from property owners and there has been no connection made between “this ad” and the City’s secret deal over the illegal billboard on Mayo Island.
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) — Richmond Police are looking for a stabbing suspect, after a violent evening on Belle Isle Tuesday night.
Police tell us the victim was stabbed several times, but should be okay.
We’re told is all started out as some type of fight between the victim and suspect on Belle Isle. That escalated into the stabbing.
The victim was taken to the hospital. The suspect was still on the run.
RPD put up its plane, which used thermal imaging, to track the suspect. But, that suspect was never found.
Although Oregon Hill remains one of the most reported crime-free neighborhoods in the city, we are not totally immune.

From Richmond Police report:
Richmond Police investigators have arrested and charged a man with driving under the influence in connection with a fatal crash this morning.
At approximately 12:37 a.m. today, an officer witnessed a crash at the intersection of 2nd and Canal streets. Based on the Department’s Crash Team investigation, they determined that Varinder Chahal, 23, of Springfield, was driving a 2004 Mazda 6 westbound on Canal Street when he ran a red light.
His vehicle T-boned a 2007 Toyota Yaris traveling northbound on 2nd Street. The Yaris then spun around and struck a nearby building. A back seat passenger in the Yaris, Carolina Perez, 19, of Virginia Beach, was taken to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and died a few hours later.
The 19-year-old driver of the Yaris and 20-year-old front seat passenger were also admitted to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Chahal has been charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a blood or breath test and felony manslaughter. Four other passengers in his vehicle were not injured.
A VCU student party at 606 S. Laurel Street last night quickly turned into a fight/riot that saw 100 people on the street around midnight.
Although at least 4 Richmond City police cars eventually came in response, no arrests were made, despite obvious underage and public drinking.
According to a story in the VCU student newspaper, the Commonwealth Times, security has been tightened at the new IHOP Express restaurant.
After a fight that attracted the attention of six police cars on Jan. 20 in the IHOP Express at Laurel and Grace Place, Dining Services’ recent decision to check student IDs might make more sense to students.
In last Tuesday’s TelegRAM, VCU announced that the IHOP Express will be increasing security on Friday, Saturday and Sunday after 1 a.m, when they stop taking swipes.
VCU students will be asked to show their ID in order to access the dining facility. They are allowed to have a maximum of three guests.
The eatery was opened this past year as part of new Grace Street parking deck construction.
In more positive news, students can use the Cabell library more as open hours have increased, and there is a student petition that asks the VCU administration to focus more on student needs and less on construction and expansion of the Monroe campus. (ed.- No surprise here).
