Angel of Hope Ceremony Tomorrow

Each year a special ceremony is held in Hollywood Cemetery to honor the many children who have passed away. The ceremony is held at the Angel of Hope statue in the Idlewood section.
Inspired by Richard Paul Evans’ best-selling novel by the same the name, the Angel of Hope is a bronzed angel that sits in numerous cemeteries across the country to memorialize lost children and create a place for collective healing.
Join us on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 6:00pm for this year’s candlelight ceremony. The event is free and all are welcome.
Sunday Specialty Tour of Hollywood Cemetery (Walking Tour)
This Sunday at 2 pm, there is a especially detailed tour of Hollywood Cemetery.
An extension of the daily “Highlights” tour, this version covers in more detail the cemetery’s unique history, landscape design, architecture, symbols and residents.
$15 per person

The nineteenth-century burial ground is the second-most-visited cemetery in the nation, behind only Arlington National. Its 135 riverfront acres—dotted with ancient tulip poplars, bald cypresses, and black gum trees—are home to the grave sites of two presidents and thousands of Confederate soldiers.
Missed The Picnic
Unfortunately, I took too long to make my way over to the annual Friends of Hollywood Cemetery picnic and only saw people as they were leaving…it sounds like it was a successful event though.
I did catch stealthy Mr. Banana nearby on Albemarle Street…

Meet at the rear of the stone structure on the left at the cemetery entrance, at Cherry and Albemarle streets. Please note that this tour is 1.5 to 2 miles and involves several inclines. Comfortable shoes and water are recommended.
$15 per person.

Hollywood Rifle Fire On Saturday
Hollywood Cemetery has a marker dedication ceremony in the Soldiers Section on Saturday, April 30. It is scheduled from 2pm to 3 pm and there are plans for rifle fire as part of the ceremony.
