The Hell’s Satans may be having their moped rally here tomorrow, but local bicycle club the Cutthroats are headed out of town. ‘Skids’ ( a former Oregon Hill resident of the 300 block of S.Laurel) was setting up a bamboo teepee temporarily in Pleasants Park this morning in preparation for camping this weekend at Bennett airfield in Brooklyn, NY.

Reported Snakebite Leads to Search

If you were like me and wondering what the helicopter was all about last night- here’s your answer- someone called 911 about a snakebite- and then could not be found.

Here is what the City’s emergency incident website showed last night:

412 S CHERRY ST RICH / CrossStreet: SPRING ST- FIRE, WATER RESCUE (Special Assignment) -On Scene 12:07 AM -47 YOA MALE C/B…JUMPED IN THE WATER…ADVISE HE IS NOW NUMB FROM THE BACK DOWN

Here is what WTVR reported this morning:

RICHMOND, VA (WTVR) – Richmond Emergency Crews Spent the majority of Sunday night into Monday morning searching for a man by the side of the James River.
Police called in emergency crews around 11 p.m. Sunday night.
CBS 6 has learned that the man called 911 saying he had been bitten by a snake in the woods near Hollywood Cemetery and the James River.
Multiple ground crews and a helicopter could be seen searching for the man. The search lasted for three and a half hours, and stretched from the Mayo Bridge all the way up to the Nickel Bridge.
No one was ever found. Crews called of the search at 3:23 Monday morning.

This seems a bit ironic considering recent posts….

Final Public Meeting for James River TDML Study

DEQ would like to invite you to the final public meeting for the draft Implementation Plan (IP) developed for the James River – City of Richmond Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) study. This meeting will be held on Wednesday May 18, 2010 at 6 p.m. at the DEQ Central Office located at 629 East Main Street in Richmond VA 23218. Click here for directions to DEQ Central Office.

The draft plan will be made available on the DEQ website. When the document has been posted, you will receive an email with a link to the draft.

Over the last 6 months DEQ and MapTech (project contractor) have met with the residential, agriculture, and urban workgroups as well as the steering committee to develop the draft document. Many of you have participated in one (or more) of the three working groups and on the steering committee – a very big thank you for all of your help – we truly appreciate all of your great ideas and the information you have shared with us!
