  1. So, according to Style articles, $600,000 for the Hippodrone, $14 million for the Landmark, over $25 million for Center Stage….not to mention the millions being allocated for a new baseball stadium…

And public school officials are left squabbling over a $1.2 million dollar school building?

Without taking any particular side of the charter school debate, it is visibly disgusting how corrupt and distorted the priorities of our local government have become.

I hope citizens go to the Mayor’s budget talk tonight and let him know how they feel.

  2. The Landmark was “restored” ten years ago, that our non native Mayor is buoyed by the financials of a traveling production of a decades old Broadway show into further wasteful spending is all the evidence one needs to realize the demographics do not warrant any further investment. Smart booking is required, not giant Convention Center’s booking the same Baptist Convention. Our Performing Arts Center ain’t doing too well either. The impact on parking during the occupation of The Lion King needs to be discussed. VCU is a city of 35,000 unto itself. Perhaps Monroe Park can be converted to parking, or perhaps a monorail can deliver the one time a year tourists to our fair city.
