Local Rapper In RVA Magazine
Fischer noted the irony of him performing on a track called “Southside” when he’s actually from Oregon Hill, just north of the River. But for the second rapper on the track, he thinks it helps because it sticks with the track’s theme of changes in someone’s life or even within the next 24 hours.
“It’s one of those mood setting song when you’re moving to the next phase of your day and you’re just cruising,” Fischer said. “This is a type of song people are going to play.”
This song launches off at a good tempo and keeps the “vibes” solid as Chance and Deron glide over a distorted orchestral beat.

6th Annual James River Splash & Dash Coming Up This Weekend
From the press release:
On Saturday, July 16, Richmonders will once again take to the James River for the 6th Annual James River Splash & Dash, presented by Swedish Match and sponsored by Riverside Outfitters. The event, a fundraiser for the James River Association, features a one-of-a-kind 6k trail run or 1 mile walk on Belle Isle followed by an inner tube race across the James ending at Historic Tredegar.
This year a new 1 mile walk option has been added for participants not up to completing a 6k, but still want to participate in the event.
Participants should be ready to have fun, get wet, and navigate an uneven trail with obstacles of all kinds, including rocks, roots, and mud. An after party at the finish line includes live music from Downriver, BackTrack and Sturgeon City, beverages from Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, and food from RVA Street Foodies featuring Richmond’s best food trucks.
Racers age 10 and up are encouraged to participate. Registration is $50 per person, which includes an event t-shirt and beverage ticket.
To register for the event or to learn more about the James River Splash & Dash, presented by Swedish Match and sponsored by Riverside Outfitters, visit www.jrsplashanddash.org by Wednesday, July 13th.

Behind The Bar At L’Opossum
Belle Island Moonshine’s blog had a post recently highlighting one of L’Opossum’s bartenders…
Boasting a menu and cocktail program as unconventional and incongruous as the decor you’ll find around L’opossum, the Oregon Hill restaurant and bar has redefined the Richmond dining experience in a vivacious manner that only renown owner and chef David Shannon can manage. We were lucky enough to sit down with William Seidensticker, bartender at L’opossum, to chat about all things served eclectic and delicious.
Tell us about yourself…
I’ve been in the industry for 22 years. As long as I have been in the industry, one of the most common questions I get is if I am a mixologist. I still don’t know the difference between a mixologist and a bartender. At the end of the day, I consider myself a bartender and I’m proud of what I do. I am proud of the product that I produce and the people I work with.
(interview continues, including some mixed drink specials with, you guessed it, Belle Island Moonshine)
