Look like more of the same for 821 Cafe, which is a shame, given the great business they are doing.

It seems like there’s been a rash of bicycle/scooter thefts around the city, and sadly, our neighborhood has not been immune. A neighbor on the 600 block of S. Laurel Street reported that her Gary Fisher bicycle, pictured above, was stolen right off her porch just last night. Please keep an eye for it and thievery in general.
A neighbor asked me to report that, around 4 am Sunday morning, a driver side swept 3 cars on the 400 block of S. Laurel Street.
The culprit was likely driving a black car which is now probably missing large pieces from the door and/or fender and a long piece of silver trim, likely from a door. The damage is in the thousands of dollars.
A similar incident happened only a few months ago in the same place on Laurel Street but that driver was caught then.
Also, it looks like the SynerGeo building was tagged with graffiti again.
If anyone knows anything, please report to the Richmond Police non-emergency number, (804) 646-5100, or this website.
Bradley Newman, a resident of the 900 block of S. Cherry, and a known drunk according to his neighbors, was arrested by police early this morning in the Fine Foods convenience store on Idlewood.
Although not all the details are clear, he was evidently caught after breaking into the store after closing and spending several hours digging a hole in the middle of its floor. One of the store managers happened to come in early for a delivery, found the elderly man, and immediately called the police who then promptly took him into custody. Newman had been drinking beer stolen from the refrigerated display cases while digging.
Mr. Newman’s slurred comments after his capture were mysterious. They were something to the effect that he was sure he had ‘found it under the chips aisle’. Jailhouse sources say he has not spoken since sobering up.
Fine Foods personel have already refilled and repaired the hole and plan to open as normal.
