With the recent warm-up, lots of Richmonders are planning their spring planting. Holly Street neighbor Phaedra has announced that there is a now a small seed library in a alley off her street. Residents are encouraged to take seeds or leave seeds. It was built by Jake Urbanski with salvaged materials, including a handle from an old filing cabinet and a bus window from the GRTC. Lizzy Cox painted it.

City crew came to work on a broken water main at the intersection of S. Laurel and Holly Streets.
The neighborhood bees appreciate it!
A Holly Street neighbor reported that around 6:30 this morning, 4 Black males were spotted breaking into a vehicle on the 800 block of Holly street. When confronted, they fired a gun while running off/ driving off. Police responded. If anyone has any information, please contact police.
People are still allowed to visit the space, but the basketball hoops have been taken down and playground equipment has caution tape to let people know that things are not sanitized for the pandemic.

Not trying to embarrass anyone personally, but I found this scene somewhat ironic. Note that this northern portion of Holly Street has no sidewalk.

After contacting the police about so many vehicles running the stop sign at Oregon Hill Parkway and Pine St, they sent out an engineer to look at it. They got back to me today with a summary:
The RPD traffic division has contacted the Department of Public Works regarding the traffic issues you brought to our attention. Together, they have devised the following plan of action:
– Oregon Hill Pkwy and Pine St
o DPW plans to place a stop bar and improve the placement of the stop sign.
– Holly and Pine
o DPW will place a stop ahead sign and replace the stop sign for the eastbound movement
