Many people all across RVA volunteered for Hands Across Richmond Day yesterday, a very beautiful fall day in the Commonwealth.
In these photos, volunteers, mostly VCU college students, helped buttress a pedestrian walkway over on Belle Island.

These flowers were donated from leftovers from the Folk Festival’s VIP tent and planted by neighborhood volunteers.
This Wednesday is a red Wednesday, which means trash and recycling pickup. Please make sure you pick up containers after pickup tomorrow night. They do not belong on the sidewalk after tomorrow night.

16 Young Adult Authors at the Main library on Thursday, Oct. 16. It is an evening of just talking about books! The event will also have food and raffles and plenty of opportunity to visit with the authors.
The Richmond Folk Festival kicked off last night, despite rain. The theme for this year’s festival are favorites from the last ten years of National/Richmond Folk Festival. It continues today at noon and concludes Sunday at 6 pm.

Tibetan folk group Chaksam Pa, who will perform at the Richmond Folk Festival this weekend, came to visit us at St. Andrew’s this morning.
