City’s Land Use Committee Approves Lease For Monroe Park
Yesterday, City Council’s Land Use Committee voted unanimously to recommend approval of a plan to lease Monroe Park, one of the oldest public parks in the country and the oldest in Richmond, to the Monroe Park Conservancy, a private, nonprofit group, despite much public opposition.

Trash/Recycling Pickup Tomorrow
This Wednesday is a red Wednesday, which means trash and recycling pickup. Please make sure you pick up containers after pickup tomorrow night. They do not belong on the sidewalk after tomorrow night.
VCU, University of Richmond, and other schools are currently competing in RecycleMania 2014.
In other recycling news, a group of recycling companies is pitching a large processing complex on land next to the Elizabeth River in Chesapeake, VA.

We did a cooking demonstration and promoted WBCH’s Early Childhood Education preschool and summer camp programs. What did we make? Bok Choy and Leek stir-fry with fresh Garlic and Ginger garnished with a squeeze of fresh Lemon. Folks were lined up for those samples!
