On this Armed Forces Day, the Native American community is honored to be a part of a special recognition for America’s best. They will present a veteran’s song and a victory song followed by a meaningful blessing of the Memorial’s hallowed grounds honoring over 11,600 names who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. Remarks will be given by Chief Kenneth Adams, USAF (Ret.) of the Upper Mattiponi Tribe and a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia War Memorial’s Educational Foundation. Better Government Asks Chief Questions
Questions from individual citizens did not get answered, but with more interest in the canal, now Better Government is posing questions. From Better Government:

VIA EMAIL TO: ray.tarasovic at richmondgov.com
Police Chief Ray J. Tarasovic
Police Headquarters
200 West Grace Street
Richmond, VA 23220Re: Canal Wall Destruction Investigation
Dear Chief Tarasovic,
On April 16 Better Government Richmond sent you a letter regarding criminal and civil investigations of the destruction of the pre-Civil War canal wall on City property that took place in October 2012. We asked if the Richmond Police Department had conducted an investigation of this apparent crime and, if so, the status of the investigation. A copy of the letter was sent to Mr. Gene Lepley, Jr., your Director of Media Relations.
We have not received any response from you. This is disappointing since you describe yourself as a “transparent person” and say you “believe in sunshine.” (Richmond Times-Dispatch, February 20, 2013)
We repeat our request for information. Please send us free copies of the records that indicate the current status of the investigation. Please see §2.2-3704 of the Code of Virginia for your response options.
Sincerely,
Board of Directors

Barry’s Laurel Street Demo Available Again
Chunksaah Records has re-issued punk singer Tim Barry’s first solo career recordings. It seems fitting, since the rental house he lived in on the 500 block of S. Laurel is now undergoing extensive renovations.
These are the raw sketches of songs that have become fan favorite sing-alongs, where you can first discern his now signature style. It also includes the live recording of Tim singing with the children of the Munford Elementary School in Richmond Virginia. This includes 2 WOODY GUTHRIE songs and is quite in the style and feel of Guthrie’s recordings for children.
Available on Colored Vinyl w/ Digital Download Card, Digipak CD, and Digital Download.
