Virginia State Penitentiary, Richmond – Filmed in 1991

The Virginia State Penitentiary was closed and demolished in 1991. The state pen was located at 500 Spring Street in Richmond. This is a look at the grounds and cells after the inmates were moved.

Parsons House Historic Marker Sign Down

This past week, it was noticed that the Parsons House state historic marker was no longer attached to its post.

A neighbor left a message that he put the marker in his yard for safe keeping and on Monday will check with Department of Historic Resources to see if they handle repairs.

False Alarm On Spring Street Last Night

There was a fire alarm at Spring and Laurel last night that turned out to be false. Thanks to Richmond Fire Department nonetheless for their quick response.
