Tuesday, Sept. 15, 11-1 p.m., Belle Isle at James River
Join the James River Park System for a family friendly hike to one of Richmond’s historic gems, Belle Isle. Learn about the geologic and human history of the area and the role Richmond played in the development of our nation. Please bring water, a snack and good shoes. Register for this event by visiting the James River Park System calendar page (jamesriverpark.org/calendar), then click on the calendar event and follow registration instructions. Neighbor Charles Pool attended the special memorial ceremony today at the Va. War Memorial in honor of September 11th. It was a very moving celebration with a brass band, youth chorus, and guest speakers. He took these photos:

The magnificent setting of the War Memorial might be altered in the future if Venture Richmond receives a DCC rezoning for Tredegar Green that would allow them to build by right to 95 feet in height.

Virginia’s Patriot Day Ceremony 9/11/2015 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Join us during your lunch hour as we pause to remember those who were injured or died during the terrorist attacks across the United States on September 11, 2001. An Old Glory ritual and bell chiming will be included. Speaker: TBD. Co-hosted with Navy Recruiting District Richmond.

Richmond, VA – Mayor Dwight C. Jones invites the public to join in a Day of Service and Remembrance on Friday, September 11, 2015 in recognition of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The event will be held outside of Marshall Plaza at 900 East Marshall Street.
